Pete Legan has over 34 years of experience at IBM, and he has an extremely varied senior management background having held many different roles (VP Sales, CFO for their Utility business, COO for their services business in Australia) in IBM, both in the US and abroad. Currently, Pete is Vice President for US Enterprise Sales for IBM’s Distribution Market (Retail, CPG and Travel and Transportation clients). He holds P&L responsibility for leading a $2 Billion sales organization, responsible for the entire IBM portfolio of products and services. His clients range from Fortune 500 businesses to emerging companies.
Pete’s previous role was VP Sales Communications Market Midwest and West Region. At this role, he led a team of over 100 client executives and managers holding P&L responsibility for IBM’s business with Telecom, Utility and Media clients. Earlier in his IBM career, he held roles as Director of Sales for the Communications Market for the Midwest Region; Chief Operations Officer and Financial Executive at IBM Global Services Australia, and Chief Financial Officer for IBM’s Energy and Utility business.
In addition to his regular sales leadership roles, Pete was the Senior Location Executive for the IBM site of 1,500 employees located in Oak Brook, IL from 2004 -2015. His responsibilities included building a sense of community among their population, representing IBM in the community, and periodically meeting with key US Congress and Senate leaders on issues important to IBM. Pete also represented IBM as a liaison to the Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy located in Chicago, IL.
Pete earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bucknell University, and he earned his MBA in Finance from Penn State University. He is an active volunteer as a former Board member of the American Cancer Society – DuPage Region, Engineering Advisory Board for Bucknell University, and Committee Chair of Young Life.
