Susan is a retired IBM Vice President with 35 years of IT solutions experience, holding executive management positions in systems and software development, portfolio management, business transformation, and client IT architecture and support. As such, she successfully managed large, global organizations, numbering in the thousands, while managing expense budgets of up to $300M and delivering bottom line results. Susan excels in influencing change across large global organizations, building on her experiences leading IBM’s corporate quality initiatives and several business process transformations that delivered global improvements in product development, customer support, and technical sales.
Susan’s strengths include expertise in the solution development process, business transformation, organizational change, and talent development. Her most prominent achievements include the mainframe business turn-around into a growth platform, and the transition of IBM’s global technical sales function into an effective team of consultative, trusted client partners. She is an analytical thinker who uses data and inferences to get to root cause, and is experienced in solving complex problems. Susan is a strong collaborator, communicator and influencer across global and diverse functions, and is experienced in building strong business cases with clear measures of success. Susan served for sixteen years on IBM’s Senior Leadership Team, consisting of the top 300 executives, selected by the IBM Chairman as change agents for the company.
Throughout her career, Susan has been committed to developing and enabling technical and business talent, within and outside of IBM. She served on IBM’s Technical Leadership Team, and established and ran three IBM global programs aimed to attract, develop and advance women in technical career paths. She has been a frequent speaker at external conferences and events that have included the Conference Board’s Women’s Leadership Conference (2014), the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (2014), Global Talent Summit (2015), and the Global Business Forum (2013), to name a few.
Susan is a graduate of New York University where she received a B.A. cum laude in Computer Science and Math, and an MBA in International Business and Finance. She serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Rochester Institute of Technology, where she also chairs the Research and Graduate Studies Sub-Committee. She also is a member of the Olin College President’s Council and is a President’s Council member for NYSCI (The New York Hall of Science). Susan resides in Yorktown Heights, New York with her husband and two children.
