Moni Miyashita is a partner at Innosight, where she focuses on helping CEOs and their leadership teams develop future strategies for transformational growth. As an expert in M&A and inorganic growth, she helps clients design strategic M&A programs that support business transformation and long-term growth. She serves leadership teams in automotive, technology, financial services, healthcare, energy, and insurance sectors.
She has most recently served as a Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Company in Merger Management, where she advised partners and over 150 clients across 30 countries on transformational M&A and merger management efforts. She also helped shape the M&A agenda and supported clients in M&A strategy, execution, and integration. Prior to her advisory role at McKinsey, Moni served in a number of leadership roles at IBM. Most recently she was Vice President, M&A Strategy, Investments and Relationships at IBM where she was responsible for competitive and market insights to execute relevant and timely acquisitions aligned with their strategic and financial objectives. Most notably, she built and led IBM’s M&A integration capability over a six-year period, when executing over 75 acquisitions transformed the company into a software and services business.
In addition, Moni managed IBM’s Venture Capital (VC) investments and portfolio of 85 funds in 15 countries to help gain early access to emerging technologies and companies and was responsible for IBM’s relationships with investment banks and venture capital firms for insights and execution of M&A. She was based out of Tokyo for over four years as Director of IBM Corporate Development Asia, where she worked with Business Unit and Country General Managers to support unique business requirements to execute M&A, divestitures, and joint ventures across the region.
Moni speaks on M&A best practices at CEO and CFO Forums, strategy roundtables, and global conferences. She served in leadership positions at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Board of Trustees, US-Japan Council’s Board of Directors, and University of Denver Daniel School of Business’ Executive Advisory Board.
She received her BS in Marketing (with Distinction) from the University of Colorado, Leeds School of Business, her MBA (beta gamma sigma) from the University of Denver, and completed the Executive Program at the Harvard Business School.
