Joao Perez is a high performance, lead-from-the-front software sales executive with extensive international experience. He has proven results over sixteen years in solution selling with the ability to structure and manage large and complex sales teams with a focus on client value creation and partner and influencer ecosystems.
Joao was the lead executive for integrating three IBM software acquisitions. His responsibilities included due diligence, business case development and execution, cultural integration and enabling hyper-growth.
Management responsibilities included market and offerings management, channel development, sales, marketing, technical support and training on a global, region and country basis. He has business segment expertise in telecommunications, defense, finance / insurance, service provider and IBM Smarter Planet Solutions.
Joao joined IBM Brazil in 1987 as a Systems Engineer. After two years he became a Software Sales Rep, then Operations Manager for the Finance Business Unit. He later joined the Retail and Distribution Unit as International Account Manager for the grain-trading giant Bunge y Born.
In 1994, Joao returned to the Software Group as a Sales and Channels Manager. In 1996 he was named Enterprise Sales Manager for Latin America, based in White Plains, New York. In 1997 he returned to Brazil and was appointed Software Group Director for IBM Brazil, responsible for all IBM software operations and business results in the country, including sales, marketing, technical support and channels.
In 2000, Joao returned to New York and was promoted to Director, S/390 Software Sales, where he was responsible for all software sales on zSeries and S/390 platforms for the Americas.
In 2002, he was appointed Vice President, Tivoli Sales, Americas, and was responsible for Tivoli sales, channels, operations and technical support across the Americas.
in 2004, Joao was appoint VP, Worldwide Systems Management Competitive Sales, Software Group, responsible for defining and executing the Strategies, Sales Plays, Channels, Enablement and Marketing Programs on the Competitive Sales Plays across all Geographies (Americas, AP and EMEA). Joao was responsible for executing Processes and Sales Plays increasing the teamwork, clothing and cross-sell of IBM Services, Hardware and Software.
In 2005, Joao was appointed VP and Integration Executive responsible for planning and execution of all aspects of Microbuses’ Integration into IBM Tivoli and also for ensuring uninterrupted and smooth support for Customer and Partners. Valiant Integration was added to Joao’s responsibilities in 2006.
In 2008, Joao was appointed Vice President of Worldwide Tivoli Software Sales, responsible for sales and operation over the entire spectrum of Tivoli’s award winning products and services.
In 2011, Joao was appointed Vice President of Worldwide Security System Sales, responsible for sales and operations over the entire spectrum of IBM Security software and services.
Joao was appointed to the role of Vice President of Global Sales for IBM PureSystems January 2013. Joao was responsible for sales and operations over IBM’s award winning Expert Integrated Systems in over 130 countries around the world.
Joao received his degree in Electronic Engineering from ITA (Instituto de Tecnologia e Aeronautica), Brazil, having graduated with high-honors. He served as a Lieutenant Engineer in the Brazilian Air Force.
