Mr. Alfred W. Zollar, also known as Al, founded AWZ Tech, LLC and has been its Managing Partner since January 2011. Mr. Zollar has been an Executive Partner at Siris Capital Group, LLC since February 2014.
He serves as an Advisor at Mission Operators Group. He served as a General Manager of IBM Tivoli Software at IBM Tivoli Systems, Inc. from July 2004 to January 2011. Mr. Zollar was responsible for the executive leadership, strategy and P&L of the Tivoli brand. He served as a General Manager of IBM iSeries, where he was responsible for the executive leadership, strategy and P&L of the iSeries (formerly AS/400) server product line. He served as a General Manager of the eServer iSeries segment from January 2003 to July 2004, President, General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of IBM Lotus Software from January 2000 to January 2003 and as General Manager of Network Computing Software from 1996 to 2000.
Previously within IBM, Mr. Zollar held several senior management positions in IBM’s enterprise software businesses, including information management, application development, networking, operating systems, and security. He joined IBM in 1977 as a Systems Engineer Trainee. He retired from IBM in January 2011, after a 34-year executive career, during which he held leadership roles for all units within IBM’s Software Group division. Mr. Zollar was a Senior Operating Executive of IBM Corporation.
He served as the Chief Executive Officer at PS Publishing. Mr. Zollar serves as the Executive Chairman of the Board at Pulse Secure, LLC. Mr. Zollar has been a Director at Carnegie Speech Company, Inc. since May 2012 and serves as its Lead Independent Director. He has been an Independent Director of Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. since June 19, 2012. He serves as a Member of Strategic Board and Member of Advisory Committee of Lotus Innovations, LLC. Mr. Zollar serves as a Director at Lotus Development Corp. He serves as a Member of Advisory Committee at Lotus Innovations Fund L.P.
He serves as the Trustee at Massachusetts Software & Internet Council. Mr. Zollar has been a Director of The Chubb Corporation since 2001. He is a Board Member of Stratus Technologies. He served as Director of IBM Collaboration Solutions software.
He has been named as one of the “Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in America“ by Savoy magazine, one of the “50 Most Important African-Americans in Technology“ by US Black Engineer and Information Technology magazine in 2004 and one of the “100 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America“ by Black Enterprise magazine in 2009.
Mr. Zollar has been issued US Patent # 8,261,329 B2, “Trust and Identity in Secure Calendar Sharing Collaboration.” He was a Harvard Fellow in the 2011 cohort of the Advanced Leadership Initiative at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Mr. Zollar holds a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of California at San Diego, where in 2011 he was named one of 50 distinguished alumni of the university.
