Dr. Maria Azua is currently the Senior Vice President, Distributed Hosting Services for Fidelity Investments, the second-largest mutual fund and financial services group in the world. She is responsible for end-to-end IT infrastructure services related to Cloud, Physical Infrastructure, Virtualized Servers, Storage, Network, Data Centers, Databases, Middleware, Web Services, IT operations and Level 3 support. Her team consists of around 300 associates in the US, 300 associates in India, and a small team in Ireland.

Prior to Fidelity, Dr. Azua was the Barclays Managing Director for Engineering. Here, she was responsible for leading ~530 colleagues in the implementation of global engineering strategy, designs, and technologies in support of Barclay’s business units.

Before Barclays, Dr. Azua operated as Vice President of integrated IT and Technology for the Global Process Services for IBM. She led a worldwide organization of approximately 1,400 engineers and IT support professionals responsible for delivering telephony infrastructure for calling centers, network solutions, and IT infrastructure to support a variety of business processes such as CRM, Healthcare, Finances, and others.

Dr. Azua has extensive experience on cloud solutions, IT Architecture, and Innovation projects. She has deep technical skills and experience in software development, large enterprise information technology projects, operations, process transformation, and software services. She has extensive experience in managing new missions, acquisitions, application development, cloud applications, and infrastructure transformation projects as well as solution delivery and process excellence.

Dr. Azua earned her B.S. in Physics from the University of Puerto Rico, her Masters in Computing Science from the University of Miami, and her Master’s in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University. She went on to earn her Doctorate in Computing Science from Pace University.
