David Berry is currently Executive Transformation Advisor for BOMBARDIER. Here, he is leading the transformation of integrating multiple technology organizations, establish global governance and PMO and delivering a 3-year strategic technology plan – people, processes and technology.
Addistionally, David Berry recently completed a one-year Interim CIO assignment at lululemon athletica in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Commuting between NY and Vancouver, Berry transitioned his responsibilities to the incoming EVP and CTO.
Berry is an award-winning Chief Information Officer (CIO/CTO) who has dealt with technology and value-chain disruptions providing strategic direction and timely execution at world-class organizations. David was awarded the coveted CIO 100 Award for outstanding ROI (415%) for integrating a $1b acquisition in less than a year (cover story – CIO Magazines’ Jan. 2007 edition).
He is a recognized CIO/CTO for business transformation in large and medium-size corporations in multiple industries: retail, food, apparel, cosmetics, insurance, high-tech, and software, on a global scale. He has worked in over 24 countries, and lived in France, Spain and the Netherlands for 15 years; held the most senior Technology Executive responsibilities for domestic and international units of global companies. His years as an operating executive have been with globally branded companies: PepsiCo, Dannon, Häagen-Dazs, Burger King, Coty, Polycom, TOMS Shoes, ascena retail group, HomeServe USA, Daymon Worldwide, and most recently, lululemon athletica in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
As a CIO/CTO, he leads global technology teams to innovate companies via executing strategic, cross-functional implementations of global systems from front-end CRM and eCommerce to back-end corporate systems; and integrating acquired businesses. His expertise is to quickly gain creditability of the technology function, establish governance and institute customer (internal and external) engagement across an enterprise.
At lululemon, David ran ‘peak’ without incident and implemented major new systems in 1 year. At Daymon Worldwide, David outsourced infrastructure and applications development
(DevOps), and forged a SaaS digital strategy for the company – in less than a year. David
implemented SAP for TOMS Shoes in a record 10 months, including BI and real-time integration – in 3 countries. At ascena retail group, he developed and sold – in a 3-year $150m IT strategy, new IT organization design and data center consolidation program – in 5 months. He has also implemented SAP in 16 countries and 5 languages. His achievements include strategic implementation of the first color, touch point-of-sale at Burger-King; Greenfield site ERP implementation in France; ERP at Häagen-Dazs; and supply-chain redesign at Dannon.
David holds a Bachelor’s Degree Magna cum Laude from Pace University with a major in Information Systems. Having lived in Europe, he speaks basic French and Spanish, and he has been published in several European and US magazines. David is a member of several professional organizations including the International Executive Resource Group, SIM and the CIO Executive Council. He maintains a Board of Advisor role with Chateaux Software, Kaleo Software and SAMPRAD.net.
He lives outside of New York City with his wife and their three young children.
